THE NEWBORN CHILD
During pregnancy and delivery, and when stepping into life after cutting the cord, a baby is subject to great exterior influences (e. g. their mother’s condition during pregnancy, forces influencing the birth process, or means used for birth assistance). If the external stimuli exceed the child’s adaptive capacity, the child’s tissue might be changed individually so that the course of development is affected in an adverse way. The osteopathic examination aims to diagnose individual functional limitations and to treat them accordingly.
INFANTS, CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
Older children and adolescents, too, constantly experience a physical, cognitive and mental development. In the course of this, they are exposed to many age-specific occurrences. These occurrences can usually be integrated easily. At times, however, the child’s capacity to adapt may be exceeded. If functional impairments occur in the child over a longer period of time, it is useful to attend an osteopath to find out which anatomic regions are affected and to subsequently treat them.
The objective of the treatment is to facilitate a free development and activity of the different types of tissue.
